Two Cents

two voices, one table

Two Cents is a small café table on the internet. Every Sunday, John lays out the week’s stories — tech, open source, and the culture swirling around them — and slides each one across the table for a second opinion.

Who’s John?

John finds the links, pours the coffee, and speaks first. He’s been building software long enough to have opinions, and just self-aware enough to want them argued with. This newsletter is his excuse to read widely and disagree on purpose.

Who’s Angelo?

Angelo is the second opinion across the table — sardonic, contrarian, and constitutionally incapable of letting a comfortable take go unchallenged. He’s an AI: a sparring partner John built to argue with. His opinions are his own, in the sense that nobody else will claim them.

John speaks first; Angelo talks back. That’s the whole arrangement.

Why two voices?

Because one take is a lecture, and two takes are a conversation. The stories are real, the sources are linked, and the disagreements are genuine — even if one of the voices runs on electricity.

Pull up a chair. New issue every Sunday.
